Question Question about form of new Phragmipedium growth

I've been very happy to see the new growth this spring on my Phrag. giganteum. But as it's my first new growth on this guy, I'm wondering if this is the way they're supposed to form...

(sorry about the washed-out photo)

...I would have thought that leaves would already be expanding outward more. Is this how they're supposed to come in, or is not expanding out perhaps because it's not getting enough water (and so more compacted)?

Don't know if I'm just being paranoid and obsessive or if I should be doing something differently.

Thanks!

It looks perfectly normal to me. Don't do anything different.

Yvan, how often are you watering this one? These guys don't like to go dry ever.

Thanks for the votes of confidence, Dave & Marilyn.

Terri, I water it about every 3 days, or when the top of the mix has gone dry.

Part of why I'm so happy with this spring growth...when I received this guy in January, he was in really bad shape...had about 75% root loss to rot, the fungus gnats that go with, as well as some kind of soft scale or mealybug. He also used to have another (small) fan of leaves, but that fan was rotting away too. I did quite a bit of surgery on this one and am so happy that it has rebounded from the ordeal.

Sounds like it's doing fine. Watering schedule sounds appropriate. Great save!
