I grow my Oncs in Long Fibered Sphag moss. When it gets dry to the point of crispy or just before crispy I water.

I'm along the same lines as Tommy is, allowing some dryness before watering again. Keep you eyes on the bulbs for water storage. I don't let the media dry out for days at a time.
Switching from bark to sphagum moss should be ok, I've done it plenty of times, it's a medium I prefer to grow my oncids anyways.

The first question is why you need to repot it.?
Is it planted in a small pot or its fairly big bush now.
Okay I think you prefer a small pot bec you keep them on window sills.
But Here in our tropical gardens they live in bigger pots.
about 10" wide pots .They grow bulbs about to 10, to 20 and all live together .They bloom as well .
they bloom 5, 8 flower spikes.
Try this way too.we use coconut husks , coirs charcoal chips only.

I grow all my onc. in LFS moss. I let them dry almost totally out between waterings. They seem to love it.
Edit:
Oops, forgot I posted to this thread before, sorry!

My oncids are in sphagnum, too. They're quite happy that way. In the growing season, I let the moss get to not-quite dry when I stick a finger about an inch into the moss before watering. I used to always let them dry out completely, but had a problem with wrinkling leaves last summer. Now I go for really dry before watering only during the winter/less active months. I like the amount of control over the moisture that the moss gives me, especially in my climate (fairly humid).
Cheers!

OK, I know I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I keep seeing s/h or S/H mentioned frequently - what the heck is S/H? All that comes to my mind is shipping and handling. Obviously I'm a little off the track???

P.S. How can I change the info, i.e., what zone I'm in so it shows up on my posts?

I think S/H might be semi-hydroponic in this case. At least that sort of makes sense....

Thanks Vicky. OK, now tell me exactly what growing semi hydroponically is - or HOW to do it - like growing vandas in glass vases?

I'd love to try some of that PrimeAgra. Do you know where I could get some when we get back to FL? We live in Ocala in the winter.
