Spots/Aerial roots.. Leaf tips Yellow?

Ok Two separate questions on two different plants...

1) I have an oncidium that has only one bulb and has a new growth coming out... the leaf tips are turning yellow.. is this due to energy diverted to the new growth or is it due to being in an east window and it's getting hotter? Don't think it's fertilizer cause i haven't fertilized it in awhile...

2) Do phaleanopsis aerial roots ever get small white oval spots on them? The spots don't look like an insect pest.. they look more like a pattern on the roots.. is that normal? all the aerial roots on one of my plants has it and just curious if this is a disease or is it natural coloration?

2. It's common to see white spots on healthy roots.
