Default Is there such a thing as a correct pot for a given genera of orchid?

I was wondering in general if there is a "correct" style pot for any given orchid?

I am not really interested if a clear pot is better or the ones with slits etc

What kind should I use for phal, dends or cyms?

Standard, tall, narrow, squat etc

Thank you all in advance

In my experience, phals prefer broad, wide pots. The depth is not critical, so an "azalea pot" works well.

Cymbidiums seem to do better in tall pots, and dens are supposed to prefer to be very cramped in their pots.

I have read and found from experience that Phals prefer orchid baskets hanging on their sides because of the quick drying, increased air flow and low risk of crown rot. As for Dendrobiums, mount them bad boys! Mine have all gone crazy since I mounted them. If it's warm enough where you are mount them on the trees in your yard wherever there is enough shade.

That's my two cents worth.
