Question Orchidarium humidirty regulation

OH boy have I enjoyed moving my plants around in my orchidarium, but for some reason as soon as i mist the humidity shoots up to like 75% but in 5 minutes its down to 65-48%. I can keep misting but im not here all the time to mist 4 times a day. Any advice?

I use an automatic misting system from MistKing. But I suspect your probelm isn't that but air leakage or lack of air seal. Is the tank sealed well? Humidity should stay up for longer than 5 minutes or so. I would say 4-5 mistings a day should produce and hold well over 80% humidity for the whole day, if the tank is properly sealed.

That guy is over pricing these orchidariums and they are not seal proof. I just think its very bizare how the humidity raises and lowers in a matter of 5 minutes. Im going to have to get a mist king or have my husband install something similar inside

Before you jump the gun, why not check into sealing the doors better? Becca in Idaho has one (well the larger one) and had the same problem. I personally (even though I've not seen these close up) think you can seal the door edges in an esthetic way with storm window tape like This is what I recommended to Becca. Just tape one layer on door in such a way it seals the gap.

Smile Orchidarium Humidity

I have the Maui Orchidarium and I have no trouble regulating the humidity. My humidity runs around 80 to 90% although it does drop some at night. I have a large car washing sponge at the bottom of mine which holds water. There is always some water sitting on the bottom. Be sure you have the the vent on the top closed during the day and open at night. Also I have the vent inside opposite the fan open all the way. The vent above the fan I keep closed until the weather gets warmer then I will open it a bit to cool things down.
The other thing is I have everything in the Orchidarium in the S/H medium. I water my mounts everyday (heavy misting) and mist several times a day.

Hope this helps.....

Sheridan

If the tape and Sheridan's suggestions don't work, you can pick up a cheap little mist fogger and put it in a pretty glass vase with water. This gets all misty and helps to increase the humidity.
Or even a cute little humidifier...I think I remember someone got a humidifier at Target that was shaped like a frog! It was sooooo cute!
