Catasetum has some black spots?

I bought this Catasetum off Etsy which arrived today.

It has some yellowing leaves and black spots ( the one in the picture is the largest ) and though I think it's okay I thought I would ask the experts just to make sure.

I know Catasetums lose leaves each year so not too worried about the yellow leaves which maybe due to transport but if it's fungal / virus or something concerning, I don't want to put it near my other orchids.

I don't see anything worrisome. The loss of the lower leaf is probably just shipping stress. If it came from the northern hemisphere, actually this is the time when new growth is just getting started - start watering when roots are 3-4 inches long. If you can't see the length of the roots, another clue is a second flush of roots that starts once the first batch is pretty well established.

If it came from the southern hemisphere, there are other contributors who are more knowledgeable than I am with regard to filpping seasons.

Why does it even have leaves at this time of year?

That's why I wondered where it came from. I am starting to get some serious leafing on some of my Catasetinae (maybe only a few weeks from water) while most are just sitting there, so it is possible that, depending on its conditions and ancestry, it could be doing new leaves this early.

If it was watered through winter and kept in a warm growing area those could be last year's leaves. Many resellers don't know their plants well, though others are good growers.

Dang. It's from Florida . Do you think it's going to have issues?

It was shipped from Florida. Do you think it's going to have issues?

It may be starting its new growth somewhat early. As far as how to proceed going forward, wait for some more responses. We have some very experienced Catasetinae growers here.
