Default Growing Paphs

I have a mottled leaf paph that is my first. It is a primary hybrid
(urbanianum x appletonianum). My question is: When new leaves grow in the fan, should they be dark or light in color? Do pale leaves suggest a lighting problem one way or the other? How do I read this?
Thanks in advance.

Correct color varies from hybrid to hybrid. My Paphs did fine in bright shade and I'm 3 degrees North of you. I think as far South as we are we don't need to worry much about light so long as they don't sunburn.

Feeding can also affect color.

The plant in question is under artificial light. I haven't measured the brightness, but I have a small phal in the same spot and it seems to be doing well. All my plants are given the First Rays regimen feeding at ~100ppm/week. The leaves that have grown since I received it are more pale than the older leaves. I'll just keep watching and keep things like they are until I notice a definite problem.

Paler leaves may indicate it's getting higher light than it had been.

Thanks. I can adjust the light. I'll let you know how it goes.

Being new to Paph culture, I would be interested to hear how you get on with altering light levels please.
