Dendrobium Nobile New Shoots Stopped Growing
Default Dendrobium Nobile New Shoots Stopped Growing

Hello! I am new to this board and I was hoping you can help me. I live in Florida where it is humid most of the time and get maybe 2 months of winter where the temp is in the 60-70s during the day. My Dendrodium nobile has produced new shoots every year and while they produce the fragrant and beautiful white flowers, the cane would only get to 5-7 inches high. The original cane when i bought from the store is 17 inches high but subsequent canes never reached that height.
This year though my new shoots have stalled. They are still green but they look sad and are only a 3 inches high for the biggest one. Should I stop watering them or is it the opposite and they need more water? Should I stop fertilizing them with the orchid feed as well? I have been watering with 3 ice cubes every week and fertilize it with better bloom 11-35-15. I would appreciate some advice. I also attached some images. Thank you!

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

I looks as though it hasn't been getting enough water for a long time. Dendrobiums need to stay moist during the growing season and should not dry out.

Have a look here at growing information from a company that produces millions of Dendrobium nobile hybrids:

Yamamoto Dendrobiums: Caring

Yamamoto Dendrobiums: Hints

Default Thank you!

Thank you for the links! I will be sure to follow the watering and fertilizing instructions. This year's shoots may not get any buds but I hope to have better blooms the next season. I appreciate it!
