Repotting Paph flowering

Hello everyone,

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a Paph that was about to flower (and still is), but I think it’s time for a repot. It’s currently in a mix of coco coir and husk, which has stayed wet for two weeks in my conditions. The pot is transparent, so I can see some mold developing inside, and I want to take action before it gets worse.

I’d like to transfer it to semi-hydroponics (S/H) — I have everything I need to do it. However, I’m unsure about the best orientation for planting it. The plant has two groups of leaves: one with a flower spike and one without, and they’re positioned 90 degrees apart, which isn’t ideal.

I want to make sure the new growths have enough space as they develop.

I don't see a need to rush to pot. The roots look good (Remember, Paph roots look different than the roots of epiphytic orchids like Phals... brown and fuzzy is normal for Paphs. Don't be quick to cut ANY - it may not be obvious which are the good ones. ) Paphs do like to stay damp. As far as growth pattern goes, let the plant do what it wants to do. A growth will bloom just once. So that next growth is where the new flower will come from. Eventually, it can produce a clump of growths, which improves the chances of having more than one flower at one time. This will be a slow process... the usual pattern for Paphs is to first produce a new growth (along a stolon, drawing energy from the older growth after blooming), then put down roots, then it is ready to think about a flower. Each stage can take a year (Though the Maudiae-type Paphs like this one may go a little faster, they still won't set any speed records).
