Definitely go take a look at the SVO (Sunset Valley Orchids, in Vista CA) website. They’re world renowned and have information on how to grow catts.

I used to work in Vista, and would buy Kiwi bark from them. Best stuff around and only available through SVO in North America.

When I get bare root cattleya I hang them in my mounted orchids area that gets watered daily until I see a new growth with new root nubs, then I pot it up. This has been my most successful method

It depends on your conditions. If you can water them daily until they are ready to pot, that's great. But if you can't manage that, then you probably should pot them up so that they get water - the old roots won't get intimate with the medium the way new ones will, but still can hydrate the plant. Southern California is basically a desert... they can't go a long time without water.

Thanks ALL for the reply and suggestions.

I think I would be able to water them everyday, so will wait to pot them till see the new growth.

Appreciated for the suggestions.

Thanks.
