A really serious problem!
I have run out of room!
What do you guys do when you run out of space for new Orchids? My window sills are full and my spare room is packed.

Time to start culling, giving those multiple divisions and less interesting plants to friends, and to shift the strategy to miniatures so there is room for more plants in the same space.
The next logical step is a greenhouse.

I went out of room some years ago.
I stopped buying more and followed an hypnosis and NLP program to help cope with the abstinence symptoms.

If you have a spouse they may by now be happy to put you into a strait-jacket, or take away your unsupervised Internet privileges.

I’m sure there is room somewhere maybe hang some pots, or add a more efficient shelving unit? I’m planning to build some window shelf “shelves” to better utilize my window sills, which are very narrow!
But honestly I pick very carefully these days, and look very closely at how large things get! I actually abstained from attending my orchid society’s auction today since I know myself, I would have come home with something that is not on my must-haves wish list. I also give plants away to other members!

I don’t suggest it, but it’s effective. Move. You quickly figure out what is a must-keep.

if you have friends or relatives you visit regularly, you can talk them into learning to grow orchids, and put plants in their homes.

The solutions, even the ones made with a bit of humor, are all very good ideas. I have a smaller home and love plants...many different plants. Most of my plants are larger plants (I have a variety of little tropical trees, shrubs and vines) and they take up most of the south-facing window space. I cannot get the greenhouse or large home so I must make all the plants fit.
After a few years of becoming very stressed each autumn trying to find space when I had to bring my plants inside I took action. First, I thought about what I really wanted concerning orchids and I culled my collection severely, giving away many of my orchids. I started growing small and miniature orchids and, recently, hang most of the orchids. I did end up buying a few I had culled because I missed them but, for the most part, giving away those orchids was a good decision. I am more careful about what I add to the collection and I find new homes for any that I regret buying.
With less orchids, I find that I spend more time enjoying them. I sometimes miss the large, Oncidiums and Standard Cattleyas but I grow the smaller versions.
Good luck!
