Phalaenopsis - One Leaf (not oldest) Yellowing, Curling; New Leaf Still Growing

Hi, all!

This is more of a sanity check than anything else as a post. I have a small orchid with the second to lowest leaf turning yellow-brown and curling. The orchid was reported a month or two ago after dropping blooms, and it's exhibited signs of growth since then - that small leaf on top has all grown since it's been repotted. I assume I should just wait for it to drop, and there's no real intervention that I should take at this period, especially since the plant is still putting energy to growing despite it.

Your assumption is correct. Let the yellowing leaf drop on its own. New growth is always a good thing.

The plant is likely pulling the mobile nutrients from the lower leaf, a leaf that’s shaded and older, to help fuel all of the new growth. Looks like a very happy phal.

Quick follow-up; I see some pink hues around the edge of the curling leaf, and the texture it seems to have developed is very "bumpy". Is this a sign of an infection? Should I remove the leaf?

No. Let nature do its thing. Don't be in a rush to cut anything.

Diseases are extremely rare unless the humidity is much higher than in an average home, and/or the temperature is much too high or too low.
