Ponerorchis graminifolia question

I got three Ponerorchis graminifolia bulbs a couple of weeks ago from Seed Engei, and I potted them up in some Sphagnum as 2 of them were starting to push out some roots. Been keeping them from getting dry and making sure they don't get direct sunlight. It's starting to get consistently warm here, so temps should be fine.

Is there anything in particular I should do with these guys, aside from just wait? Or should I have put them in a sandwich bag with some damp sphagnum first and wait a bit before potting them?

Just wait and keep them most. They actually benefit from cool. So get them outside so they can acclimate. Remember, these are from Japan where they encounter freezing winters.

I got some last year, they did so-so. They went into the refrigerator in November (because my winter is too mild for them), got potted up and put outside in around March - and they're sproutiing nicely.

The Baker culture sheet gives a temperature range of 100 deg F to 13 deg F.

I'm waiting for mine to pop up. We have a couple weeks of warm weather ahead, so Ivsyspect they'll be making an appearance. I grow them in the ground in PA.

I grow these, and they are a joy to grow. I pot them in Kanuma, and they do great; they like it consistently moist but not soggy, so be careful with the sphagnum. Oncidium light or lower works well. I don't think they're fussy to bloom, but their color tends to be darker under lower light. Also, if you've seen a green tip sprouting, that is not a root; that's the stem growing, so make sure that side is facing upwards, although the plant will find the surface itself.

Once they start growing, they despise being disturbed, so leave them be and keep them moist. They tend to be early summer bloomers, so expect to see them grow faster towards the end of May and the beginning of July.

Reduce watering as you see the leaves fade in late summer/early fall, and they will go dormant by November. I placed them in the fridge in small containers placed on top of some poly-fill with a small portion cup with wet sphagnum inside, but didn't let the sphagnum stay in contact with the tuber. They like a winter temperature of around 40ºF, just like your fridge. If your winter is very cold you may be able to use your garage, but they may not be able to survive frost outdoors if planted in pots.

A hint on terrestrials that grow from tubers, if you get them bare... Mateo is spot-on, the little green sprout is the stem - headed upward. When I have received a tuber not starting to sprout yet and I'm not sure which end is up, I pot it on its side - it will figure out which way to grow but won't have to make a U-turn.

Well thought of this thread when I saw a tuber "popping out" of the pot... I potted this one horizontally because it was very dormant and I think during watering it must've turned slightly downwards... it had grown all the way down!!

You can see a part of the leaf in the middle of the pot. haha Just repotted it, hopefully it didn't disturb it much.
