How to Flower Cymbidiums in Tropical Environments

Hi all, I have 3 Cymbidiums plants, each one different. But they all have one thing in common, they have not bloomed XD

I live in a temperate climate at 1150mt above sea level, temperatures range from 20 Celsius to 32 Celsius now with the drought and global warming.

I have heard of everything to make Cymbidiums bloom, from the classic Ice Cubes, to watering them once a week in the early morning with cold water from the fridge.

I have seen specimens bloom from time to time in other crops, but nothing very common or routine (unlike catleyas which are constant).

Besides moving XD, what can I do?

In the fall Standard Cyms need to drop down into 10c to 15c for a few weeks to initiate flower spikes.

There are other Cymbidium hybrids that will flower in warm areas. But the ones you have need the cooler nights.

Even the "warmth tolerant" strains are unreliable bloomers. Trust me I've tried everything.

Best orchid lesson I've learned is to stop trying to grow things where they don't want to be.

Cym. Milton Carpenter 'Everglades' and the species aloifolium, canaliculatum, dayanum, madidum and their hybrids flower here in the heat.

Add to those, Golden Elf and Chen's Ruby (which is a Golden Elf hybrid). They both have Cym ensifolium in the background. They bloom at the end of summer, or early fall, so clearly don't need a cool-down. So I think the short answer to the original question is, select the tropical species or hybrids that utilize them. for the seme reason that I struggle with most Vandas (except for those from higher elevations) Orchids are pretty adaptable, but there are limits as to how far from their ideal conditions one can go.
