Default Fertiliser recommendations

Particularly from those based in the UK please...

I've been using Orchid Myst since I was gifted a small bottle with my first Phal. years ago. I find the product easy to use and I am happy with the health and blooms of my orchids but now my collection is larger, this is proving an expensive way to fertilise.

What products do other people recommend? Especially products available here since Brexit

I would like to try Kelpak but I haven't been able to find it over here.

First, Kelpak isn’t a fertilizer, it’s a biostimulant that should be used in addition for fertilizer.

Many folks use Akerne’s Rain Mix if they have a pure water supply, but the truth of the matter, fertilizer is so low on plants’ “Maslow’s pyramid of needs” that pretty much any one will do. The trick is moderation and regularity.

Personally, I recommend weekly application of a solution containing 75-125 ppm N. If you divide 8 by the %N in any fertilizer formula, the results is the teaspoons per gallon for the middle of that range, giving you room to round up or down for measuring convenience. If you prefer metric measurements, 9.2 divided by the %N gives the results in ml/L.
