Can I save this or do something useful with it?
Default Can I save this spike tip with bulbs, or do something useful with it?

Photo below. It's the tip of a spike with a few flower bulbs that were about to bloom. It was knocked by a family member and severed entirely. They were about to bloom. Was placed in water for now. The left bulb a really grew since then, but not sure it'll survive.

Can I save it somehow, or even hope for more?

I'm a beginner wrt plants, but I imagine I went be able to get seeds from this and replant it, or hope it'll grow roots since this is just a tip of a spike, and not a core that can grow roots. Correct?

There's unfortunately nothing you can do to save it.

Keep the spike wet (like a bouquet), flowers may open. But it's not going to grow. There's always next year (I assume the plant is OK. Just because a bloom spike is lost does not doom the plant! Most orchids bloom about once a year. But having lost this spike, if the plant is substantial, it may grow another one sooner)

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that is a Phalaenopsis. I'm not sure how much of the spike remains attached to the plant, but don't cut it off unless it turns brown.

Over the past year or so, I had the bad luck of having two different Phals accidentally get their spikes broken off. In one case, the plant had already bloomed. In both cases, the broken spikes took a month or so to recuperate and then began to grow again, right from the broken off end, and eventually produced more buds and flowers.

Best of luck to you!
