Aaron, I don't think any flower can actually be truly "blue". I think blue vandas are called "blue" because the hue of purple is cooler and falls more on the blue scale than lavender, which is much warmer. Sorry just the of a professional artist, speaking

Regardless... I LOVES the blues!

I sort of agree. As a Photographer and artist I have a pretty good eye and have seen some supposedly blue flowers. The only one I would consider truley "blue" is 'Blue Sailers' or Chicory which is incredibly difficulty to capture in it's true blue color. None of the supposed blue Phals or Vandas have appeared blue to me. Most are a shade of light violet.

Ross and Shams,
I may not have much of an eye for color but my morning glories have flowers that are pretty darn close to true blue. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow and see what you thing. Although it's pretty irrelevant since we can't yet cross orchids and morning glories (be great if we could though). Of course if we could do that we could also cross an elephant and a pig and my wife could finally have the tiny "peliphant" that she's always dreamed of. Where are all the mad geneticists when we need them?

I would have to agree with you Aaron (no offense to the ever-so-lovely Shams you know I think you rock!)

The morning glories that I have grown for years are indeed blue. There are also some forms of periwinkles that are also blue...they grow (or used to) all over Sanibel Island. You'd also have a hard time convincing a hydrangea lover that their flowers aren't blue ('course hydrangeas can also be pink and purple... ) either.

Here's the picture of my morning glories. I had to doctor it a little to compensate for my crappy camera phone. It is actually a little lighter and less lavender when viewed with the naked eye.
