Can she be saved?

A new orchid given to me in the hopes that I can salvage it.

I think the odds are low. You can pot it up and see if it will produce some roots, but with only 1 leaf (few reserves) and no roots, don't waste a lot of time on this one.

It might survive but chances are low. From the top menu use Search and look for 'sphag and bag'. To survive it will need high humidity and warm temperatures.

I'm a bit more optimistic. The leaf is large, green, and looking healthy. The stem looks intact. There are a few scraps of roots still attached. I don't see any mealybugs, scale or rot.
I think it has a chance, but it will take some time.
There are different ways of doing this, sphag and bag is one.
I would probably just pot it up in bark, in a very small pot, with some moss wrapped around the bottom of the stem and around the roots. Use sticks and stones to stabilize it in the pot. Water a lot, keep it moist. Maybe soak it weekly and pour through water in between.
Don't fertilize until you see signs of new growth, then start with 1/4 strength.
Keep it warm.
Put it somewhere with a little less light than your other Phals get, and no direct sunlight.
Other than watering, just leave it alone. See what happens. And please keep us posted!

I’m always up for an experiment, but I would go into this one knowing it’s unlikely to survive. I’d give it a 5% chance. You will learn from the experience and it could teach you something valuable. If you go into it with that mindset, you can’t be disappointed!

Try and see what happens. That's also how we learn.

Go for it. I saved a phal that looked similar - spagh, warmth & little water. Yes, chances are low, but oh my goodness if it survives, what a joy!! ROBB

Thank you for everyone's advice.

I treated with Kel-pak right after the last post and then put it in a high-humidity environment. We have a new root and a new leaf growing!

For comparison the original post has the "before" picture.

The question is what do I do now? I don't want to mess with what's working. At the same time the one leaf is losing its green and not looking great.

I have First Rays "Optimun growth package" at my disposal (which I use for my other orchids).

Other things:

My house is incredibly dry (New England).

I had it on a heating mat.
