Default Where can I find Clear Plastic Pots?

I have looked everywhere I can think of for these, yet cannot come across any. I like having my orchids in a clear plastic slotted "pot", but the only ones I have are the ones that some of my orchids have come in, and I'd like to replant one in a larger pot.

Any suggestions? I've tried home depot, wal mart and my local farm store with no luck.

Thanks!

repotme.com has standard sizes for sure and I use them for most of my needs, but no-one that I know of makes a tall slotted pot suitable for Paphs and Phrags. Doesn't that say something for those with enterpize in their blood?

Once again (and I think I'm not getting through here ) we need clear pots that are tall like seedling pots. In case no one else knows here (I'm getting very frustrated) Paphs and Phrags have a very deep root system like Cyms and need to be in deep pots. That's fine, cause there are band pots designed for them. But not "clear". They are all black or green. For now I just use bigger clear slotted pots and scrunch the roots in. That sucks! With all the Paphs being grown are there no slotted deep clear orchid pots anywhere in the world? To me that smacks of a clear and simple enterprize opportunity. Sorry for the rant, but I've been search (as have others) for a year and notta.

So in all that time, have you designed the pot you want?
Start enterprising

Kristin, for clear slotted pots, I've ordered from Green Barn Orchid Supply and from Cal-West. They both have many sizes and decent pricing.

Meh, pots.

I make my own, because I find that you simply can't get pots that are about 25 cm diam (to me the optimum size for almost everything bar Phals,) that are nice and shallow. So I cut the tops off a 25 cm ad the bottom off a 30 so they slide into each other and weld them with holes made with a hot wire.

Those work fine. For bigger plants like some paphs, phrags and phals, you can get bulb pans..

Now for clear pots. Why?

The trad answer is "So that the roots can photosynthesise duh."

This year I have been growing a lot of orchids on mounts, catts, oncidium, odontoglossum, a lot of dens, inc den phals, den nobiles (the smaller ones, )and several types of other dens, etc etc.

Now the one thing I have noticed is that these plants are simply not interested in photosynthesising with their roots. Sure, the tips are green, but the point is that where the roots emerge from the moss that the plants are mounted in, they almost immmediately dive back in again, like a child's drawing of a sea serpent.
This suggests to me that the photosynthetic ability of the root tip is to detect light, not really to benefit from it but to tell the root that it needs to curve back away from the light and into the medium. (Posh term, negative phototaxis.)
I haven't got phals on mounts, but where they are potted up, the roots that are out of the medium do head away from the light.

So, it might be correct to say that by putting them in clear pots you are actually stressing the plants in that their roots just can't get away from the light.

Any thoughts?

I've created a thread trying to understand why roots seems to grow away from light. While it happens with all my orchids, there's some examples from other members that show the opposite.
So, no definitive conclusions were reached. It was expectable because there we all have different environments and other factors to take into account.
