I noticed that one of my otherwise healthy orchid’s leaves started yellowing overnight from the tip, it’s not the oldest leaf, and when I checked the plant last night all the leaves were fine. This orchid hasn’t lost any leaves since I got it in May. I watered it a couple days ago and nothing in its environment changed..
I’m wondering what could have caused it and if it’s something I should worry about?
It looks like the leaf tip may have sustained some minor damage. Also, while phals typically lose their lower leaves first, sometimes it’s a middle one that drops. I’ve noticed that when a leaf base has been punctured by enough new roots, it’s likely to drop regardless of where on the plant it’s located.
If only one leaf is affected, it’s not something I’d worry about at all. If more leaves start to show symptoms, check the roots.
there is one root that’s just starting to grow on top the leaf but it’s not punctured.
The plant is not very close to a window and it’s been at the same spot for the past couple of months. I do notice a streak of growth that’s bumpy under the leaf that’s affected. There are also 4 flat lines underneath another leaf (looks like something ate the leaf?) - is this a sign of pests? If so, what could it be? And what should I do about it?
