Tolumnia spike or leaf?
Default Tolumnia spike or leaf?

Hi. My tolumnia is finally growing and I was curious if this is a spike or just a new leaf? Really wanting it to be a spike!

I guess my question really is where do tolumnia produce a spike? Phals always spike below a leaf and not out the top, so i know what i'm looking for on those. I have no clue what to expect from this little guy.

I'd say that it is likely a spike. But it's still very small. Patience...

If you're referring to the little nub in the crown of the plant, it's a leaf. Spikes tend to grow from in-between leaves, lower in the fan.

It's rather unusual (of course you can do it) to see a Tolumnia potted in bark.
Tol spikes are very thin, can't really be confused with a leaf, though. I'm old and have Mr. Magoo-itis, but I don't see a spike.
