Browning on leaf of Brassocattleya Fuchs Star
Hello OB,
I have Brassocattleya Fuchs Star, bought from Ecuagenera nursery here from California in mid of Oct, today I realized one of its leave is turning brown, it stays outside in walk-in greenhouse, is this because of cold or something else.
I have potted it in lava rock with semi-hydro setup, so far it is doing good, it is putting new roots as well.
Please advice.
Thanks.

Temperature should not be a problem though it's possible. It could still be responding to change in environment. You might remove that dying leaf tip with a single-use razor blade and dust the cut with cinnamon, and keep an eye on it. If the damage is localized, likely a response to change. New roots and new growth should be OK.

Has it made any new roots since you got it? It's potted in large bark, which is acceptable. The older roots will have trouble taking up water after their bare-root experience. It's common for Catts to lose leaves in this situation, and this is how they look when that happens.

Thanks,
It is putting new roots, it was potted in bark when I got it but the bark was smelling bad, so repotted it in semi-hydro with lava rock. I can see new roots are going inside, so I am assuming it's doing ok apart from the browning of one leaf.
Thanks.

I think the orchid will be okay. I would do as Roberta advises. I get that sometimes on some of my orchids when they are outside and as long as it does not spread, removing the leaf should be the end of it.

Thank you so much.
I removed the leaf, and will keep monitoring.
