That's a very beautiful lucky bamboo!

What's sold as lucky bamboo is usually the monocot flowering plant Dracaena sanderiana. There are a lot of Dracaenas worldwide in the tropics. They are not grasses like true bamboos. Many species and cultivars are used as house plants. The ti plant is widely used in Polynesia for wrapping and fiber. It was once considered a Dracaena but has been moved to another genus, Cordyline.

In general Dracaenas are low light plants preferring high humidity and regular fertilizer. Many people give lucky bamboo far too much light and never fertilize it. It survives an amazingly long time in stagnant water people forget to change, but won't grow much like that.
