Question Watering techniques for plushy green moss?

Hello all,

I received this Bellina yesterday. I am not sure about watering in this type of moss. It looks more .. plushy and green than the other moss I have seen before... What kind of moss is this and what would you recommend as the best watering technique? I really do not want to repot it now because it is in bud.

Pictures: Moss how to - Album on Imgur

Care:
Bright light
80-85F daytime , 73-77 nighttime
70% humidity
Edit: There is plenty of air movement in my orchid room.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you! ❤️❤️😊

I have observed some styrofoam at the bottom of the container, and I can see "through" the container..It doesn't look like there is moss throughout the container...maybe only at the top?

I gave it little bit of water..and it seems to have plenty of drainage..So I guess I will be able to figure out the watering over time! ^_^

That is just sphagnum upon which algae has grown.

I suggest you water that by setting the pot in a shallow tray and put the irrigation solution in the tray so it is wicked up.

Top-down watering, unless it’s barely a trickle, can result is suffocating saturation.

Keep in mind that sphagnum may-, or may not be a particularly good potting medium for your growing conditions, but my suggestion was intended as a way it might work for you.

The fact that there is something in the bottom of the pot that keeps the moss elevated might reduce or prevent the wicking up. If the water level in the tray doesn’t change much after a day, that’s probably the case.

Okay I see, I agree. Bark works better for me..I may just have to wait for the perfect opportunity to repot..or just risk it now...decisions! Thank you Ray for all your help!!

I took the risk and repotted it in a basket with bark!
Hopefully it will be better for miss bellina in the long run..

Phals aren't fussy about when they're potted - even can be potted in bloom. Your choice to repot to a medium that works for you under your conditions was a very good move.,
