It looks like part of an Oncidium, and that is just a guess. I don't think there is anything there for roots to save. I'm sorry.

Aww...
There are little teeny rootlets in the pix, but they're probably not enough, I'm still gonna try and if anyone has any ideas that I should try please comment.

Many who want to salvage a plant that is sickly use the spag and bag treatment. It's posted here somewhere under the forum section. If you want to try, that might be an avenue for you. Good luck.

If it were mine, I'd dunk it in a mixture of KLN and MSU fertilizer. . .soak it for a little. And tuck the root end into moist sphagnum. Keep it in an orchidarium with good light, good air circulation. . .and pray.

I am sorry, I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope for it. . .but you never know how badly something wants to live. . .all you can do is give it a chance.

Good luck!!!

I am now doing the spag&bag, when I put the orchid in I removed the tape to see tiny little stubs popping out of the break, they might be roots!! Thanks for all the advice and in advance for additional info!
