Bringing blooming orchids indoors

I'm just wondering what other people's experience has been when they moved orchids currently in bloom to an indoor location.

For context, I grow phalaenopsis and dendrobium orchids. In my climate, I can grow orchids outdoors all year round but during the rainy season we often get storms passing through which could damage flower spikes. So, being a good plant parent, I would bring them indoors during unpredictable weather. But, also being a good plant parent, I enjoy seeing their blooms up close indoors so much that I don't want to move them back out 🥴haha.

Would bringing a blooming phal or Denphal indoors somehow shock the orchid? Is it likely that the blooms would fade faster or maybe even last longer? Any thoughts or experiences? This would be indoors near a window which provides morning light similar to what they receive outside.

I bring everything with a nice flower inside and sit them on our kitchen island bench. It does knock them around a bit due to being drier inside and less light. They are usually a bit wrinkled by the time the blooming is done and I carry them out again - no great harm though.

I grow largely cattleyas and Oncidiums. The flowers are not as long lasting as your phals, so you will need to take extra care not to dry them out.

Technically a home is probably a more hostile environment than outdoors, so the question is...does displaying it in the home while flowering, override other concerns?
I would say that for many, the answer is yeah. Value judgement. It probably won't drop dead instantly

My denphals never seemed to notice being brought inside while blooming. Blooms lasted weeks as long as they were near a bright window.

Interesting thoughts. I did notice that I would need to adjust the frequency of watering. Time will tell in my case.

I routinely bring blooming plants into the house to enjoy them. About the only things that I don't are some little mounted things that really need the extra daily watering they get outside, plants that are just too hard to manage (like Stanhopeas with hanging flowers) or those with other "special needs" that are easier to meet outside, or big things that are too heavy to move around. Phals totally don't care about the change of environment, I make up for lower humidity by just watering more frequently.

I also bring my blooms indoors to enjoy. It’s my primary goal in keeping orchids. And when it rains heavily, I do the same. If it’s just a few days, you shouldn’t have a problem.
