Thankfully, CA geography reduces the land area prone to flooding (and increases the land area prone to landslides
)compared to NC and almost all of the east coast.
Unfortunately, human development out here happened in the worst places and in the worst ways as it relates to rainfall and our watersheds, so the areas that do flood, flood absolutely horrendously.
My parents in Carmel Valley lost power. We still have power in Fallbrook for now.
FYI: if you have solar on your house, don’t forget to shut off your system if you lose power. Electrifying a downed grid can kill people working on lines.
