Help identifying black dots on new leaf
Default Help identifying black dots on new leaf

Good morning everyone!
My phal is a rescue, bought it last autumn, it was sold outside on a rainy 9°C day. It had one open flower. Over the winter other two grew. I then kept the stem all spring, then cut it around may since it was starting to get yellowish.
At the beginning of July a new leaf started growing!
I'm noticing black dots on this new leaf, near the base and one a bit more up, can you help me and tell me what they are? Is it some kind of disease?
I water it once every 7-10 days, using a wooden stick to see how wet it becomes.
Thanks everyone

This looks very minor to me. A slight imperfection, in response to slightly imperfect conditions. There are more expert growers here, though I am guessing this is nothing to worry about.

If the spots grow significantly larger, or become widespread, that'd be an issue.

If you are concerned, I do not believe there is any harm in spraying with something like Bio-Advanced 3-in-1. If you do, get the concentrate solution, you will only pay a fraction.

If I am wrong and these spots are a problem, then this spray could help, along with making sure your watering and other conditions are as ideal as possible.

I also guess you might be slightly overwatering?? If anyone would care to confirm or deny... if it's a bit of fungus, then allowing the plant to dry once might kill.

Again, this is my first time answering a question on this forum! Lol

There are experts here, and I hope I was accurate. So listen to them first! Lol

It's happened to me before when I've kept phals cool and in a damp atmosphere over winter. They didn't spread any further, but the leaves will always look a little damaged.

Those may be normal purple pigment dots. Many Phals. produce these from time to time. I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Look at a sticky thread here. From the left yellow menu select Forums then Beginners. Near the top is a sticky thread, The Phal. abuse stops here.
