A tray of water will do little, if anything, to raise the humidity if you’ve got it in an open room. You need a humidifier. Read this.

This is how I grow some of my larger phals… the inner pot sits inside an outer pot where I leave 1/2 inch water, and the rim keeps the inner pot from sitting in the water. I think this helps create a humid zone for the roots. This happens to be my Phal sweet Memory… but I got one in good condition, nursing it back to health is harder.

Thank you that’s very helpful! Your sweet memory looks very healthy!

I’m wondering what do people usually do with roots that grow white mold? I already took the plant out of its pot, cut the mushy roots and sprayed with fungicide, but white mold still grows once I repot the plant.. right now it’s in medium sized bark/perlite/charcoal mix without the moss on top..

In addition to the roots.. I‘ve posted in a different thread but one of the leaves of this orchid has lumpy discolored parts with little indents on the back - is this normal?

Are you sure it's white mold? Could it be mineral deposits from your water?

I think it’s mold, it’s very fuzzy and can appear overnight, if spray that part of the root with hydrogen peroxide (is this bad for the roots?) lots of bubbles will form and the fuzziness will disappear for a couple of days and then come back..

Don't cut off roots just because they look moldy or mushy. Don't put peroxide on roots. Neither are helpful to getting your plant healthier. Increase air circulation instead.

As someone... maybe Blueszz?... said on your other post, it looks like edema on your leaves to me.
