Update. I left it on the branch and potted it in large orchiata bark. It has been in here for 2 weeks and seems fine. Does this look about right?
First pic is from two weeks ago, second pic is from today.

Looking good. Again, just let it grow, observe. Two weeks is nothing in the life of an orchid! Progress is measured in months not weeks.
