Catasetum, is it time?

I've been putting these guys off in the past two months (tbh intentionally out of laziness.) I think one of them is ready but he still keep on putting out new root after making a long one.

There is still a lot of juice in the old pseudobulbs of the one of the left, so there is no urgency with watering. Last year's pseudobulb of the one on the right is partly hidden, but it doesn't look much shrunken either.

For mine I wait until a lot of roots reach the bottom of the pot (you should see them coming out of the holes), or all old pseudobulbs are totally depleted (about 20% of their original size), whichever comes first. I can't see the roots of yours, but I think I would wait.

BTW, I am also in SoCal and I have started to water only one of my 6 catasetinae.

I would also wait. They are getting close, but could still use some growing before watering. I also have a few that I have started to water, that are much bigger, leaves starting to seriously spread out. Some just do develop faster than others. This is the hardest part... not watering when you see the green shoots. Put your hands in your pockets so that you aren't tempted to reach for the watering can.

Once the growths reach that size I find it soooo hard to resist the urge to water. So I do what has often been suggested, and dribble a teaspoon of water along the edge of the pot. It satisfies my urge to water, and doesn't harm the growths!!

I'd hold off watering the large one for another 2 weeks and check back on the smaller one in a month.

Ok I take everyone advice and hold off watering for a while. That mean I get to be lazy for the next few weeks!
I put them back in the tent because it's been getting a kinda cold lately.
