Why is it deform? Is it genetic?
Default Why is it deform? Is it genetic?

Hi All,

I have this cattleya lueddemaniana bloom. During its 1st bloom, it was kind of deform so i waited to see if the later bloom have same issue. I think on the 3rd bloom it happens again but only on 1 out of 4 bloom. Is this genetic or is something to do with my care?

Pls advice.

Thanks.

What is wrong with it?

This one looks like a hybrid to me.

I think they are referring to the second picture, it looks like the column is outside/on top of the lip where it is typically underneath.

Ya, I saw that one, but the wind can do that. I was wondering what was happening in the first photo.

Hi All,

I'm so sorry that I didn't explain the 1st picture. The 1st picture is normal and 2nd is deformed. I just want to show that is normal sometimes that's why I post 1st picture. And yes, the column was outside. Why is it like that? Is it genetic? I don't think is wind because i am not able to manual cover the column coz I almost tear the flower apart when I try to do it.

Thanks.

If it happens multiple times over several seasons, it is likely genetic. But if its a young plant on its first bloom, then it is likely just a one time type of thing.
