Phal Leaves Yellowing and falling off
I just can't seem to get this right! I bought a Phal from Hausermann's and it was delivered on March 7th. Everything looked good, and i've had a few of the buds open (its so purdy) anyways, a leaf fell off. it yellowed around the crown. I know leaves fall off, it happens. Then a second one. And now a third one is starting!! (there's only 4 leaves!) The buds seem to be ok, there might be one blasting on it. Anyways, in the second picture you can see a blackening spot. Someone on reddit suggested it might be stem rot. I didn't repot yet, cause it was still blooming, but now im considering it! I have everything to repot it. What do you think? I went with a Hausermanns orchid cause i was tired of the grocery store phals dying of crown rot! I've only watered this a handful of times (when the roots have silvered), and ive watered from the bottom. If i recall, I may have attempted the top first time but i got so nervous about the crown, i went from below. I'm sad i'm killing all these babies!

For a plant that recently acquired, I would suspect a problem was there before you got it. That's only a month. I would suggest contacting Hausermann's before you do anything with regard to repotting. Send them photos as it is now, tell them everything that you can about temperature and light that it experienced, and ask if you should unpot it. If you do and find root rot or other problems like that, it would have to be a problem that has been there before you got it. They should be willing to work with you to figure out what went wrong and when.

It might have gotten too cold in shipping. Phals don't like being cold.

I wondered that too. I think it was about the 40s the day it arrived, and there was a hot pack, which was slightly warm to the touch. Hausermanns isn't overly far from me, so, i think it was only exposed to those temps for about a day.

40's for a day is plenty of time for cold damage (which can take a little while to appear). I would definitely bring this up with Hausermann's. If the weather was cold they should not have shipped.

The beginning of March was very cold this year… I remember because I had a couple orchids that I had bought and I kept telling the vendors to keep holding! I finally let them ship the week of the 20th. I live in central ny, similar weather to Indiana (I lived in west Lafayette for a couple years— Purdue U)

I remember around the time of shipment, there were temps closer to the 50s. And then the day after shipment notification, it was lower 40s.
The reply I got from hausermanns was the following photo. I'm not even sure how to respond to this response!

Yes. Ask them for a replacement plant. They're a top-quality vendor, they want happy customers and do what it takes to make that happen. They know that if they take care of you, you'll be back.
