Hello! (It's been so long since I've used a forum)
I've recently fallen in love with the egret orchid and found a place selling them in bulbs, I've decided to take the plunge and see if I can manage caring for them into adulthood.
I'm a super visual learner, so I've been poking around the threads trying to see if I can spy on anyone's potting set up -- and since it's been a bit since I used forums... I've been having a little trouble.
Here's what I've learned so far:
- Yes to sphagnum moss
- You want a kind of shallow pot to "aerate" orchids
- They like to be misted and be moist but not wet
- bark??? Everyone mentions bark but the website i bought the orchid bulbs from mentions pumice? Do they need ANY soil or do they just kind float on rocks and moss
- thats?? That's all i've learned so far
Some people are also suspending their orchids or mounting them but I don't think those are the orchids I'm trying to raise.
... Can I see your soil? Or look at your pots?
