Unhappy Pahl. Miva Smartissimo x Canaberra leaves turning red

I have a Phal. Miva Smartissimo x Canaberra and the leaves are turning red. It starts at the tip and moves back up the leave. One leave has fallen off and now a second leave is beginning to turn red. It flowered about 6 months ago and now has a new shoot with 4 buds on it but it hasn't flowered. I took it out of its ceramic container only to discover that it is encased in a plastic container with roots coming through the holes in the bottom. What do I do before I lose this orchid. Thanks.

Sue

Hi Sue. Welcome to OB. Can you post a picture of your plant? This will really help diagnose the problem.

Generally speaking red leaves mean the plant is getting too much light. Phals don't like direct sunlight. Are the roots poking out of the bottom firm and white or tan, or are they dark and mushy?

Phals can also turn red if they are exposed to too low of a temperature.

By the way, the pollen parent of that cross is likely Phal Canberra (there is no such plants as Phal Canaberra)
