Default Paphiopedilum or Phragmepedium with largest flower

So I really like the Paphiodpedilums with very large flowers, such as the Hilo Black Eagle. I am curious whether someone knows, is this the Paphiopedilum and/or Phragmepedium indeed with the largest sized flowers (not plant size) or are there still larger flowered species?

I know that the Paphiopedilum Sanderanium of course has the extremely long trailing petals, but I am seeking one with the biggest main fleshy body of the flower.

Is it the Hilo Black Eagle, or another?

Anything with Phrag kovachii as a parent should be pretty big. The species was discovered only about 20 years ago, and has huge flowers, up to 6 inches I read. It's used qite a lot in breeding to creat hybrids with large flowers.

I have heard that the species can be rather difficult to grow, but not sure about the hybrids. They tend to be expensive plants, so killing one could be a very costly mistake.

Thank you for this. I checked out the Kovachii and it looks really cool.

Though I am searching for the biggest flowered of the Sanderanium type, with thin trailing side petals (sorry forget the technical term) or the Hilo Eagle, though the thin petals aren't nearly as long... something like that, maybe with flowers bigger than the Hilo Eagle's!

For Paph sanderianum progeny, the classic is Paph. Prince Edward of York - sanderianum x rothschildianum. I'm not familiar with hybrids that followed. If you get a seedling of this type, you'll need patience - they are slooowwww. But I have seen some magnificent ones.

In the Phrag department, for sure Phrag kovachii has some magnificent offspring. And I think that Phrags grow a good bit faster than multi-floral Paphs.
