Beginner in Seattle, questions about Miltonia
Unhappy Beginner in Seattle, questions about Miltonia

Hello everyone!
I am a proud new mommy of a miltonia orchid I bought 2 weeks ago. It had a lovely scent when I bought it, after bringing it home it didnt smell so much. Soon after the flowers are drying up and the bloom stalks are pale, I dont know if this is the normal end of the blooming cycle or how long the blooms are supposed to last. Also, if they are truly done how should I trim them or should I leave them on? I know its a lot of questions but am trying to figure this all out. When I brought it home I had it next to the window, perhaps it got too much light or was too cold. Have since moved it to a better location.
Thanks for any help or ideas!
Amelia

Welcome "aboard", Amelia.

We're going to need a bit more info before giving a decent answer, as there are two, distinct groups generically known as miltonias.

The true miltonia is a warm grower, while the other - now correctly separated into its own genus, miltoniopsis - prefers cooler conditions.

Fortunately, the flowers are a pretty good indicator, as the miltoniopsis is also known as the "pansy orchid" Any idea which yours is?

Welcome Amelia!!!!
Ray is right, we need more questions answered to determine which you have. I have a miltoniopsis that was marked Milt. when I got it and it's fragrant and looks like a pansy. I keep mine in bright but not direct light. I also keep mine slightly moist. What type medium is it in? Again, welcome!
