New orchids coming

Ok, I will prepare to hurry up and wait.
I've been waiting for months on the dendrobium kingianum, I can see buds and I can tell they're floral buds..but OMG almost imperceptible progress since like August. At this rate, I can believe they won't actually open till June.

Different animal... Den kingianum and its relatives (such as Den speciosum) and hybrids in that group usually explode in flowers in February/March. California shows are awash in these. Short-lived flowers but can be spectacular. Paphs, on the other hand, tend to be slowww, but once open, flowers can be quite long-lasting.

Well I took this photo on T-day (Thanksgiving US) and was surprised to be able to see the spotting on the blooms already. Again, I haven't flowered a bulldog and very few doomed paphs at all, so this is new to me. I'd not be excited with a phal, dendrobium (which usually seem to take forever), or oncidium. So bear with me, as the blossom develops.
Since this was grown from seed, we shall see what we end up with (fairly soon I'd say)

Well, the bulldog is opening...and I have to post an update. I consider this fairly fast for an orchid to go from tight bud to almost open in about a month.
