Any recommendations on where to get decorative pots that don't cost an arm and a leg?
I mostly use decorative pots for watering, in my very dry climate soaking the media for 5 to 10 min works really well. I like to buy them about an inch wider than my growing pot. Best are solid plastic planters, however, most stuff I find online has draining holes (which defeats the purpose) or are ceramic pots which somewhat also defeat the purpose and can accumulate salts.
Any tips on online sellers would be greatly appreciated!
If you're only using them for watering/soaking and looks don't matter, how about looking into stainless steel pails? Just do an internet search, and you will find them everywhere, Amazon, Home Depot, food supply stores, pet supply stores, etc. No holes, a non-reactive material, and they come in many different sizes. If stainless steel is too expensive, pails or buckets of many different sizes are also available in plastic.
Glazed ceramic won’t absorb salts and minerals. I’ve found some fun things on OfferUp. Target usually has some cute pots in spring. IKEA has lots of affordable options, probably also in spring/summer.
im not sure how big your pots are, but yeah, i go with repurposing whatever container i can get my paws on. the stiff plastic buckets we get with peanuts or gummies or whatever work great. also the thrift shops for silly gigantic coffee mugs has proven a gold mine.
I also haunt the resale shops as E.S. Has suggested. I find cool vintage terra-cotta all the time, as well as other options. Sometimes it doesn’t even have to be an official pot to fit the bill.
