Ditch the plate. Mats made for seedlings can get wet and dripped on, they just shouldn’t be submerged in water. You also don’t need to worry about the temperature. The mats boost the pot temp by 12-15F at most, and your plant’s roots are up in the top half of the pot, away from the heat. If you do want want to measure the temperature inside the pot, use a meat thermometer.
