Phals really don't mind being repotted... so maybe worth having a look. Personally, I'd rather pot an orchid in a plastic pot instead of a decorative one, as long as it has good drainage. Because if it gets really happy and the roots get entangled in those holes, and you want to change the pot you have to break the pot. Much better to cut a cheap plastic one than to break a nice ceramic one... you can always put the plastic pot into a decorative pot, taking it out to water.

hi there! perhaps i will get some gruff by saying this, and please don’t take offense, but it’s worth it to learn how to repot on your own. it is fun, challenging, and an essential part of plant ownership. imagine calling triple a every time you get a flat tire....wait, you aren’t one of THOSE people, are you?!

just kidding, but at the same time, i would encourage you to go buy some more cheap phals and some media and practice up. you will get to know your plants way more intimately and save yourself money and time.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I really appreciate it. I don't buy plants normally. I only have this mini orchid and a pot of succulents. They were all given by a very dear friend. That's why I'm trying my best to keep them alive and happy cause they mean so much to me. Anyway! I gave water to the aerial roots and wow they look so much better now after 24hrs! Hopefully the leaves will get better as well. And as I said, I might report it when I have time to check out the roots.

Those aerial roots look very good. (Little green root tips show that they are growing actively) That white coating on the outside of the roots is called "velamin" and it is like a sponge - it holds water while the roots (the core inside) absorbs water slowly. When the velamin is well soaked, it turns green. Under the surface, there are chloroplasts that can photosynthesize, and when the velamin is wet it becomes somewhat transparent so that you can see that green. You definitely can't overwater the aerial roots - they will dry quickly. So a frequent (every couple of days) bath for them will be beneficial. The limp leaves may or may not perk up... orchids don't respond the way garden plants do when watered. But new growth will be nice and firm.
