Psychopsis help

Hello,

I am moving with my 40 something orchids and I noticed one of my psychopsis’ spikes has been damaged. Is there a chance it will still bloom??

Bummer when that happens... but Psychopsis often sends a side shoot off a damaged spike, and just keeps on blooming. That also happens when the end of the spike is spent - those new side spikes off the old spike can extend blooming, even for years. So never cut a Psychopsis spike until it is brown and really dead all the way to its base! Side branches on the spike are possible (even likely) anywhere on a green spike.

Yup, that's been my experience too. Mine grew a new leaf and sent up a new stem only for some insect to chew it off a few inches above the base. A month later now and it's growing a new shoot from the node below where it got chewed off.

Be patient. A month is a very short time in the life of an orchid. (The time between blooms on an active Psychopsis spike is about 6 weeks, so to grow a new active blooming branch may take longer)
