Thanks, Roberta! I was excited when I found this one and glad I jumped on chance. If they are spikes, I will share a pic or two of spikes, buds, and blooms.

From what I can tell it's a dendrobium spectabile HR4N 'Hoosier' (the stake was busted into pieces, so I was able to salvage most of it). I have an idea of what the flowers will look like from the wilted blooms, but I'm still hoping for flowers and to see what this beauty will do.

While I'm here, thank you, everyone, for your thoughts earlier. The buds are opening nicely on this plant. Here's today's picture of the three that seem to be doing the best.

Once the plant finishes flowering, I am going to repot it and "clean it up". The spots on the leaves are not a fungus. It came badly sunburned from the greenhouse.

Question for anyone who may know: the tag identifies it as a dendrobium spectabile 'HR4N' and dendrobium spectabile 'Hoosier'.

What does the 'HR4N' mean?

Ohh congrats! Maybe HR4N refers to H & R nursery of Hawaii and 4N refers to its polyploidy (Number of chromosomes of a set)

Jeff, I think you gave me the clue I needed! Thank you! When I looked up H&R Nurseries, I could find the Dendrobium spectabile and saw several references to 'hr'. I believe you're correct that the 4N is the polyploidy.
