Hydrogen Peroxide - Toxic to Orchid Roots

I literally just finished spraying hydrogen peroxide on several my Phals when I came across this thread. The top of a few roots turned black where they are exposed to air before they enter the Leca media. When I sprayed it with Hydrogen Peroxide the root bubbled and fizzed like it is infected. Is there an alternative spray I can use? Should I cut off the black root? The portion under the Leca beads appear to be green and healthy.

In the roughly 30 years I've been growing, I've never sprayed my roots with anything. If something goes wrong with a root, I'll take care of it with snips!
