Cattleya flower spike drooping

This cattleya has bloomed well for the last 3 years(recovery) but presently the flower spike has drooped over. All things have remained consistent. What's causing this and should I be concerned?

Those look to be some pretty heavy buds. Maybe there’s turgidity issue, potentially caused by underwatering or a compromised root system.

Thanks Ray, I didn't think the buds are any bigger than usual but I suppose size and weight don't always go hand in hand.

So, I suppose my first thought would be is it "normal" for a spike to droop like this? In applying a slight lift to the stem it is definitely not limp. It is very firm.

My watering has been consistent BUT I did not increase as the buds were developing so that is a possibility combined with the fact we are having hot days for our area.

Roots are always a concern for me as that is what prompted my initial recovery effort not long after receiving this plant. And I know I had tiny flies in the medium for some time which are only just recently virtually eliminated.

After this bloom, assuming it blooms, I intend to repot where I will have an opportunity to better see my root structure.

When this happens to me, I do get a stake in there to support the inflorescence at the base of buds. I don't want to mess with the presentation, but don't want it to break of its own weight, so I gently support but don't put any tension on it.
