Is this a keiki or new growth
Exclamation Is this a keiki or new growth

This is the first orchid I have been able to keep alive In 15 years and I have no idea what is happening. I want to keep my orchid. I have had this one just over a year. I am super confused on all if the information available but want to continue to help my orchid thrive. There is a new stem growing as well off of the current flowers. This is not the original stem that grew flowers, that stem died this winter.

You have a very happy plant that has grown a keiki on the older flower stem, and that keiki looks like it’s growing a flower spike. The original plant is also growing a new flower spike. From the looks of it, you’re giving your plant exactly what it wants!

Welcome to the Orchid Board! Your Phalaenopsis looks happy. It's understandable that you would be confused by all the conflicting advice that can be found on the internet. The trick is to find out what works for you, in your particular growing conditions. I'd say you're doing just fine with the plant in the pics.
