Hello,
A few days ago I asked your opinions on a leaf problem as regards my orchid and it turned out to be a sunburn issue. When I was about to repot my orchid I noticed a small formation on its stem. It looks like a new leaf is about to form there and doing some research I found out that it might be a "basal keiki". So now I have a new question. For the last three weeks my orchid has been out of pot (in water in open air during the daytime and out of water during nights) because it had some root rot issues and the trouble on the leaf. During these three weeks it started to produce a new leaf and this keiki. Before that during the winter and spring it hadn't shown any progress and even begun to deteriorate. Should I repot my orchid and settle it down or keep it in water treatment for some more time?
Water treatment doesn't work in my conditions. My impression from reading is that it doesn't work well for anybody long term.
I would pot that plant into the medium of your choice. The roots are good enough to support growth, and it should soon form new roots. As I recall your environmental conditions are good for most orchids.
You are correct, that is a basal growth forming. It is normal for many Phals to form clumps. It is also normal for damaged rosettes to form new growths from the base.

Yup, pot it up and let it start growing in the medium of your choice. Roots need to grow and adapt to growing in whatever medium you choose, not let it grow roots then change the growing method. Plenty of root there to move forward.
