Vanda tessellata growth inhibited by temperature difference
I have a few vanda tessellatas that I have been growing for some time, I have grown this particular species for a very long time now. About 6 months ago we moved to the central part of the country, submountane zone(1300masl)where the temperatures are much cooler(18-21 at night) (25+ during the day).
When I was growing them in the lowland(warm area) they'd grow very quickly and thrive very well in full sun, after I moved I continued the same care routine as before( full sun, daily watering, weekly fertiliser) but most of the plants growth rate has decreased greatly ( roots are actively growing though) and one is completely stunted it no new growth in six months except 3 flower spikes in just 2 months. I however had kept a clump of the species in a very shady spot(under a roof) and never watered it once in 6 months, that particular clump is showing active growth and growing normally.
Should I stop watering them more frequently and move them to the shade.
Is there anyone growing this particular species is cooler areas like mine, could you please share how you grow them, watering schedule/ amount of shade given and fertiliser routine.
( I have the same problem with my native rhynchostylis retusa which also comes from the lowland dry zone area)
