Question Cyrtopodiums and Brazilian exporters

Hi everyone!

I’ve been doing some digging to try and find vendors that sell Cyrtopodiums and I’m not having any luck. I figured my best chances are to get them from nurseries in Brazil or South America that export to the US (without any wholesale-level massive minimum orders preferably) however the three places I’ve ordered from before don't have any (Ecua, Mundi, and AWZ).

It seems that Cyrtopodiums are much more commonly offered down there but short of clicking through Orchid Wire and emailing every Brazilian Nursery I’m not sure how to find my source for them. I’ve reached out to a few so far but I’m hoping that some of you wonderfully helpful people could weight in with any personal knowledge.

Could anyone point me in the direction of some good Brazilian/ South American nurseries that export to CA, US and might have Cyrtopodiums? I’ve gotten really stuck on this genus and finding a few of these amazing species is really becoming an obsession! I’m sure you all know what that’s like.

Any help and tips anyone could give me would be so appreciated! Thanks!

Cheers, Jen

Bump

I’d even take some good recommendations for other Brazilian exporters in general.

I cant personally recommend anywhere but I can reccomend that you ask Steven van Kempen-Lewis (isurus79). He grows Cyrtopodiums and on his YouTube channel I believe he has talked about importing plants. You guys might be birds of a feather...

Bela Vista orchids in Brazil (Antonio Schmidt) has several cyrtopodiums

Bela Vista Orchids - CYRTOPODIUM

I have bought from them in the past and they have been reliable with good quality products.
I recently pre ordered about 10 cycnoches and clowesia plants and picked them up at Tamiami festival in Miami. If unable to pick up at show they will mail them to you once they are in US.
He puts out a list and usually attends both big miami shows, Tamiami and Redlands. He regularly attended redlands in the pre covid past
and I suspect he will be coming to redlands in October. Best to email him and confirm before hand and get on his email list for pre orders.
