Received Black Jewel in Odd Soil

I just received a small Black Jewel Orchid. It is in a peculiar substrate I've encountered before. It's almost like a black wax, very viscous, and water runs right through.

I was surprised it came like this. I do not know how to reproduce the substrate, and I believe I am to up-pot right away. I am thinking I will place it into orchid moss. Is this a good idea?

Ludisia is a terrestrial orchid. Any common garden soil is a good medium for it.

I've been hearing snippets of some kind of mythical "mud" for terrestrial plants (aroids and orchids) made of peat moss and perlite or something like that.

Although it was a gift if you get the name of the vendor maybe they can tell you.

Per rbarata's comment, for Ludisia discolor, most commonly sold potting soils will do.

My preferred way of potting in large containers is to fill the container 1/3 with orchid bark, 1/3 with a mix of orchid bark and African violet potting mix, and the top 1/3 all African violet potting mix.
